The implementation of BlueBeam Project software would benefit the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Department in the near-term, and would have long-term benefits for the GSD Maintenance Department.
From a pre-construction standpoint, the software would aid in collaborative design reviews between AE&C, the various GSD Maintenance Departments and the designer(s), with the ability to comment on progress drawings and distribute electronically. The linking ability of the software between plans and detailed drawings makes for easy reference through the documents. A savings in printing costs may also be realized from this, if all reviews were conducted electronically.
During the construction phase, the Project Managers/Inspectors could benefit from having the full set of plans available to them on their tablets in the field, with easy reference to plans, details and other drawings and the ability to make notes regarding inspections directly on the documents. This would create a living record of noted items, changes, etc. that could be referenced throughout the construction process.
Post-construction, BlueBeam has the ability to store/retrieve O&M, Record Drawings and Submittals for reference by the Maintenance Group when repairs are required.
The long-term benefits to construction and maintenance for the District would ultimately justify the procurement of BlueBeam.
