While the functionality mirrors discussions in Canvas, the UI is much more friendly, and it is easy for students to access and use. It also has an lti to Google Classroom. Setting up the teacher can keep the names of the repliers private. The one thing I worry about is that the discussion replies are posted without approval so far as I can see. The teacher can delete them, but would have to be monitoring to do so. There are also assessment or point rewarding features that go way beyond what I see in Canvas. The Google classroom integration works really well.
